The La Garie sanctuary is nestled atop the rolling hills of Comminges, facing the majestic Pyrenees in Occitanie, southern France, just 1.5 hours from Toulouse, the “Pink City.”
Here, days unfold in harmony with nature, blending moments of absolute serenity with magical encounters with the animals that call this place home. The eco-lodge, both comfortable and environmentally friendly, offers an ideal setting for a rejuvenating stay.
This peaceful refuge was lovingly created by Stéphanie and Georges, a couple wholeheartedly dedicated to animal welfare. At La Garie, time seems to stand still, allowing space for what truly matters…
In this preserved natural haven, rescued animals roam freely, while humans in search of tranquility and meaning come to meet them. These unique exchanges encourage us to better understand the animal world, awaken our ecological awareness, and rediscover the beauty of life itself.

Where will we stay?
La Garie – A Sanctuary of Freedom, Serenity, and Love
More than just a refuge, La Garie is a sanctuary where animals, rescued from cruel fates, now live in peace and freedom.
Across vast meadows or in their wooden enclosures, you will meet cows, horses, ducks, sheep, buffaloes, goats, pigs, chickens, cats, and even… donkeys from Israel, saved by the Starting Over sanctuary.
And of course, we can’t forget Tali, the lovable dog who will be your devoted host and ultimate hiking guide!
The Eco-Lodge – A Blend of Charm, Comfort, and Sustainability
Housed in a carefully restored 16th-century farmhouse, the eco-lodge seamlessly combines authenticity and modernity with an eco-conscious approach.

What’s on the menu?
Every day, we will share delicious vegan meals, prepared with fresh, local, and organic ingredients.

Evenings – A warm and festive atmosphere with aperitifs under the stars, accompanied by local wines.

Mornings – A French-style breakfast: fresh bread, vegan butter, and artisanal jams that might just be the best you’ve ever tasted (perhaps even croissants!).

Throughout the day – An abundance of farm-fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade treats, and hot and cold drinks available at any time.

Excursions – Picnic baskets or sandwiches can be prepared for outdoor adventures.
And in the kitchen?
Agnès, a passionate local chef, will delight us daily with dishes inspired by French cuisine.
Food lovers are welcome to join in! The spacious, light-filled kitchen is a playground where everyone can create and experiment.
On Friday evening, we will prepare a special Shabbat meal together, in a hands-on cooking workshop revealing the secrets of great French chefs. Stéphanie and Georges will be our honored guests for this heartwarming gathering.
